It is perceived that medicines and foods have a common origin. With the several unique properties, Mushrooms, can be considered as a perfect manifestation of this concept. At Innotech Agropostikum have been researching for over last five years to consider mushrooms as nutritionally enhanced functional food, more specifically to consider it as a natural source for Vitamin D supplementation.
Vitamin D Deficiency is a pandemic problem with over 80 % of the adult population suffering from various ailments because of it. Scientists at Innotech have come up with a patented protocol that can enhance Vitamin D content of Mushrooms significantly. With the support from BIRAC, Dept of Biotechnology, Govt of India, the Woodberry (TM) contains around 4000 IU per 100 gm of fresh produce. Thus, a pack of Woodberry (TM) can provide the recommended daily dose of Vitamin D.
The produce is sourced from pristine farms located in the Northeast as well from the Himalayan valleys, these mushrooms are carefully handpicked, grown in natural conditions using natural substrates. There is no antibiotics, chemicals, preservatives or any additives used during any stage of production. The packaging is also uniquely done in food grade paper, which is completely biodegradable with an aim to decrease the environmental footprint.
For ensuring the quality, the farms are connected with IOT based operations and are fully automated, where all the parameters are monitored without any human intervention. All the academic studies, toxicity and nutritional analysis, including an animal model study was completed under the funding from BIRAC, DBT, Govt of India and our laboratories are located in Guwahati Biotech Park, IIT Guwahati Campus, Guwahati. They have also tied up with CSIR-IHBT, Palampur, Himachal Pradesh. To ensure quality, they have established their own mushroom spawn unit at North East Agriculture Technology Entrepreneurs Hub (NEATeHub), Assam Agriculture Unioversity, Jorhat, Assam.
Currently,Oyster, Shiitake and button mushrooms as our fresh produce and we also have the dehydrated and powdered version of these three varieties. Being fat soluble, Vitamin D concentration does not change in the dried and the powdered variants.
